Growers Christmas Gift Guide 2022

Updated: Dec 14, 2022

We think it is pretty obvious that we love to grow things - Sue has her beautiful Cottage Garden which you have all watched blooming over on our Youtube Channel and of course we have both got our allotments. The satisfaction of nurturing the soil, planting our seeds and reaping the benefits of our efforts with family and friends is second to none and we know we are not alone in feeling this way. So here is our Growers Christmas Gift Guide for 2022.

As we are both keen gardeners and crafters we know the toll that is taken by our hands and nails. And there is nothing better than being able to reach for beautiful seams products. We think this cuticle, hand and nail oil would make a great gift for a gardener or crafter. It’s non- greasy and quick to absorb. And a little secret, if you have been on your knees gardening it can be tough on your skin, so why not rub some into your knees too!

If you have someone who is difficult to buy for, possibly a gardener who you feel you give the same gift to year in year out then how about this. Seep makes a range of household cleaning tools that are 100% plastic free and compostable. Yes, compostable! So if you have an eco conscious gardener how about this as a tool cleaning kit. We gardeners do need to keep garden tools clean and when they are finished with, just chuck them in the compost!

When you are looking for a gift for someone with green fingers it’s so nice to find something really special. This very handmade Dartington glass Lily Flower bottle in lime green is just beautiful. Each piece is unique as they are handcrafted and mouth blown, before having the flower motif pressed into the molten glass. Standing at approx. 18 cm high this flower bottom retails at £46.

This lovely book is a must to give to growers and foodies alike. Kathy Slack's beautiful book takes you on a journey from sowing and growing your own food to putting it on the table and shows how it’s not only good for your health but for your mind and wellbeing also. Showing how anyone can grow their own food even without a space of their own. This lovely book is jam packed with a wealth of ideas and information that just makes the perfect gift.

There is always something really sumptuous about Aveeno products, from their skin relief body oil spray to their probiotic Oat ranges. You know Aveeno is not only kind and soothing to your skin but leaves you feeling just cleansed and rejuvenated. When we are working the allotments, we always look forward to a hot shower and Aveeno products when we get home . So naturally we like to share what we like. So making a Aveeno hamper for a Christmas gift is definitely on our to do list!

There is something really wonderful about having wild birds in the garden. If you have someone who is really hard to buy for but loves feeding the birds and watching them in the garden then how about treating them to a beautiful bird box. We love these from Henry Bell wild Bird care, the quality and craftsmanship is just fantastic. A bird box will encourage nesting in the garden and providing our little feathered friends with shelter. There is nothing more exciting than observing wild birds tending their young in the nesting box and waiting for the babies to fledge.

Christmas countdown is all the more exciting with an advent calendar and we immediately fell in love with this William Morris advent calendar from Dobbies. 24 windows to open during December and each containing a beautiful gift of either hand care or bath and body treats scented with 5 different fragrances. So uplifting and beautifully decorated in the unique William Morris designs. All the products are cruelty free and vegan friendly and even the box is FSC certified and printed with vegetable based inks , so can be composted after it is finished.

What can be more Christmassy than these lovely Nordic Wonder wooden light up stars. Whether they are a gift or you treat yourself, these stars with warm white lights are stunning and make the house feel magical. They come as a pair, and remember stars are not just for Christmas but for all year round!

Every gardener should have one of these brilliant paper pot presses! We all know what it’s like in the spring when we are planting seeds. We always run out of pots, we hate using plastic pots. So when we found this paper pot press we jumped for joy. Crafting your own pots out of old newspapers is just the best idea ever and you can then of course put the plant straight in the ground still in the paper. Well that makes a gardener's life easier and is kind to the environment too! So a perfect gift for Christmas.

We absolutely fell in love with this garden journal from Dobbies. It is incredibly well thought out and has a lovely recipe each month of the year, and along with the daily planner there are pages to keep notes, plant profiles and even space to sketch a garden plan! And all beautifully illustrated in Wrendale Designs by Hannah Dale.

When we came across this cute little bird roosting pocket we instantly fell in love with it. What a sweet gift for a gardener! Cosy roosting spaces offer protection and nesting for small birds such as Blue Tits. This natural fibre roosting pocket is designed to provide a cosy overnight retreat, particularly during the colder weather. Complete with wire hanger, it is made from a variety of natural materials.

TOG24

Whether we are out walking the Dorset hills with the dogs or working hard in the garden or allotment we always want good quality outdoor wear. This is why we love Tog24 so much! Tog24 clothing is not only super soft and comfortable to wear, but warm, practical and very stylish.

We have chosen his and hers items to feature in our gift guide starting with this sumptuously soft Shire women's fleece jacket in Navy . A classic micro fleece jacket with full length zip. An asset to any county girls wardrobe.

For the outdoors guys we just love this Alden Mens Hoody in deep port. Warm and cozy and again super soft with a full length zip. So if he’s out in the elements or off to the gym you know he will be comfortable and feel good!

Getting out and about is always an adventure. Whether you like to plan a walk beforehand or just go, it’s great to have an ordnance survey map of the area. Now you can get a custom made OS Map for the adventurer in your family! These high quality maps make fantastic gifts and it’s so nice to give something personalised. You can put in your postcode or the town or village and that will be the centre point of the map. You can also choose the image on the front cover. Maps are available in different sizes and can also be ordered framed.

It's always lovely to give a keen gardener a plant, but of course at Christmas time it can be difficult to do this. But Hellebore are winter flowering and make then perfect gardeners gift treating then to some winter colour in the garden that we come back year after year!
